In February 2021, Pipeline Analysis, LLC, working with the Benbrook Water Authority, began an evaluation of a portion of the Authority’s wastewater collection system in South Benbrook (See Project Schedule Area). The purpose of the evaluation has been to identify elements within the collection system which may need rehabilitation. These efforts are being undertaken in accordance with the Sanitary Sewer Overflow Initiative (SSOI) Plan prepared by BWA and approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in 2018 and are part of a 10-year plan to comprehensively evaluate the entire collection system and help ensure the collection system functions as intended, minimizing the potential for sanitary sewer overflows.
The first phase of the evaluation involved inspections of sanitary sewer manholes within the 2021 study area. These inspections were followed by smoke testing of the collection system within the study area, which was completed in early April. Video inspection of selected collection system mains follows the completion of the smoke testing and should be completed later this Spring.
